I had the pleasure of listening to Vanish Patel, a renowned property expert (http://www.propertynetworkingclub.com/), speak at Tony Chad’s London Property Network evening (http://www.thelondonpropertynetwork.org.uk) last night at Waterstones in Piccadilly. He was talking about the importance of building a team as an essential contributor to success and growing your business, whether in property or not.
I completely agree and on the way home that got me to thinking about examples and another of my interests – cycling and the performance of Mark Cavendish and his HTC team which enabled him to win six stages of the Tour de France last year…..a phenomenal achievement at such an earlier stage of his professional road racing career.
Rather than me explain the virtues of his team. Take a look at this video, where Mark Cavendish talks about his team and how important they are:
If you’re still here and have the patience then take a look at the following which is a clip from the Tour last year…..five stages down and towards the end of the final stage. This clip shows the performance, synchronisation and harmony of the team in action. Awesome! Enjoy!
Let me finish by asking you a question: Imagine you could get 10 or 20 or 30% more out of your team, what impact would that have on the growth of your business?
Thanks to In Rainbows/ for the image.

What we can learn from Mark Cavendish and HTC about great teams @ http://bit.ly/94QauX
Ironically cycling has got to be one of the biggest team sports ever. Too often (football being a great example) the ‘team’ is made up of individuals. In cycling the individuals work together as a team.
I too have seen Vanish speak – he’s obviously found a very successful formula.
Hi Matthew,
Vanish is a great speaker and has some great insights to share.
Cycling is one sport that I have been involved with over the years so is something that I follow with great interest. I agree that it is a great example of where the individuals really do show how the benefits of working as a team.
