What’s going to make you stand out?
April 6, 2011Why are UK companies a long way behind their US counterparts when it comes to engaging with their customers via social media?
April 15, 2011A few weeks ago, I was sent a review copy of Guy Kawasaki’s book, Enchantment: The Art of Changing Hearts, Minds, and Actions. Last week following various via bits of email correspondence and travel coincidences, I was able to meet Guy in London to ask him about the book and that is the topic of the podcast. In our discussion, we talk about being enchanting, what it takes to create enchantment, the book writing process and find out what change Guy really wants to create enchantment around.
I agree wholeheartedly with Guy when he states in the book that learning how to create real and meaningful relationships with your customers is the key competitive skill that will set you and your business apart in the coming years.
Enchantment is a how-to book and also a manifesto for creating real change. It’s like a 21st century version of Dale Carnegie’s ‘How to Win Friends and Influence People‘. In the book Guy explains how Enchantment comes about and shows us in very practical ways how to achieve it by thinking more about yourself, how we develop relationships with those around us and how we use various technology tools to tackle big problems.
Although, you can get some great insights from book from the infographic below, I would urge you to get hold of a copy. It’s a keeper and a book that you will find yourself coming back to again and again.
I hope that you liked the podcast. Have you been enchanting lately?
You can follow Guy on Twitter here and find out more about Enchantment on its Facebook page here.

This is awesome Adrian!
I am so jealeous that you met with him! Well done buddy. I’ll listen to the interview tonight.
Thanks Daniel,
A bit of asking and then quite a big helping of persistence 🙂
Let me know what you think of our chat,
Adrian
Well done Adrian. Listened to the interview in the car this morning. Congratulations.
Hi Michael,
Thank you so much. It was an honour to meet and chat with Guy. A very smart and nice man.
I loved his ideas about making everything more democratic. What did you think?
Adrian
I’m really looking forward to hearing this Adrian. I’ve saved it to listen to tonight. Great work!
Thanks for that Matthew,
Look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Best regards,
Adrian
Ok Adrian, I’ve now listened to it! It sounds like you had a great time! Interestingly enough I did think when I read the book that it’s How to Win Friends and Influence people – for the 21st Century.
Nice plug for your own book in there too!
I like how you shared my observation of the checklist contents 🙂
Hi Matthew,
Yes, indeed. It was a lot of fun and the tip about the checklist was very useful 😉
Glad you liked the chat. First time I’ve done an edited podcast so sounds like it came out ok 🙂
Adrian
Adrian,
Like Daniel, I have to admit I’m a bit jealous also. I have followed Guy for several years and have most of his books, and what I like most is his down to earth authentic intent. I wish I could have been there:) Great job getting the face time.
Bill
Hi Bill,
Thanks for dropping by. You are right. One of the most ‘enchanting’ things about Guy and his style is his down to earth and straightforward attitude. Hope you enjoyed our little talk.
