If we are not willing to be honest as customers how can we expect businesses to get better?
November 26, 2010Is your brand like Brighton Rock?
December 1, 2010Back to the Future?
Today is the one-year anniversary of this blog give or take a few days. Phew! That year flew by really quick.
It’s been a huge learning curve for me……. about blogging, customer centric growth, expressing ideas, writing, social media and all things business and web related.
To date I’ve posted 225 times, received just short of 1,000 comments and, according to Alexa.com, adrianswinscoe.com is ranked #333,512 in the world according to the three-month Alexa traffic rankings, whilst the site is ranked #16,662 in the UK, where it is estimated that 58% of its visitors are located.
It’s been a lot of work but hugely rewarding and I have met some incredible people. If you are reading this then the likelihood is that you are one of them. If not, then do leave a comment and just say Hi!
However, I don’t want to dwell on that as I’ve not finished with the blog and am thinking about what I want to achieve over the coming year. More on that later.
What I want to share with you today is a talk by Robin Wright called The Future’s Bright, The Future’s Social that was given at the recent Likeminds conference down in Exeter.
Robin’s talk, which is worth watching and listening to, just for his gold shirt and purple suit, and is about what are learning from human evolution, sociology, anthropology, technology and psychology and the future of our societies and why the future is necessarily social.
If you are interested in why developing a more human and relationship centric way of doing business is paramount, watch this talk. It’s definitely, worth it.
Done?
For me, Robin does a great job of summing up what is happening on our societies and what is being fueled by technology that surrounds us. It’s back to basics. Back to the Future?
What did you think?
Thanks to Stéfan for the image.

“I have met some incredible people” – I think that is what differentiates Adrian’s efforts from so many others: instead of the random noise creation and content-free content of much social media, here we have both empathy and information in abundance. This presence is about real people meeting. If you are yourself serious about personal brand building, and not just intent on quantity over quality (Adrian, though, manages both quality and quntity), then study what has been achieved here.
Hi Malcolm,
Thank you for your comment and kind words. My word! You made me blush 🙂
I have some exciting plans and thoughts about new content and creating a greater community for the future and look forward to sharing a few of these with you in due course.
Thanks again for your words, it means a lot.
Adrian
Happy anniversary to your blog Adrian. I have been blogging for more than a year now and like you I have learned a lot. Just remember to go on, despite the challenges, despite the disappointments, and despite the thwarted expectations. Learn a long the way and evolve, and well see each other at the top. 🙂
Hi Walter,
Thanks for your comment and your best wishes. Yes, it’s been an interesting and great journey and I am looking forward to the next steps.
As Zig Ziglar once said ‘See you at the top’!
Thanks again for stopping by,
Adrian
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the pic of the Delorean, I recently met a real life storm trooper & R2D2, I was so excited! http://on.fb.me/fohuUm (the inner geek in me coming out).
Back to a more serious note Congratulations on your anniversary! Going through a bit of a transition phase myself recently, I was reflecting on my skills as a writer, and I realised that I’ve been blogging for over 2 years! My anniversary went by without my noticing! I must mark it in the calendar & be sure to celebrate next year 🙂
Hi Claire,
I am really pleased that you liked the photo. I was very excited when I found it….the inner geek coming out in me too 🙂 I particularly like the one that is stood scratching his head 😉
I think it’s important to celebrate and remember the milestones that we achieve. 2 years! Stand up round of applause for that. Look forward to reading and commenting on your great stuff as we go forward.
Best wishes,
Adrian
Ps. Hope you are feeling better 🙂
