Today, I want to share with you a moment from a film that I really like: Coach Carter. Below is a the video of Cruz’s speech from Coach Carter. His speech is based on a passage from Marianne Williamson‘s A Return to Love.
I think one of the most important parts of this speech is the line that goes:
‘Your playing small does not serve the world.’
It is something to think about when we think of our businesses, our customers, our teams, our families and ourselves. Are you playing small in areas of your life, leadership, community, business? What fears are holding you back?
How is that serving you? What is the world possibly missing out on by you shrinking behind the fears that you have?
I’m not suggesting that we can all become enlightened, super-beings but I think it is our duty to ourselves and those around us, whether they are colleagues, customers, networking contacts, family, friends etc to start to recognise what we are afraid of and how we can play a bigger and better game.
I hope you enjoyed the clip and if you haven’t seen the film then I would highly recommend it.
I’ll leave you with this question as I head off on holiday for a week: Can you play a bigger game? If so, what can you do to get started?
