I was walking along the promenade in Brighton the other day when I saw the starlings flying in formation above the Eastern pier. If you’ve never seen it they are a fantastic sight, Hundreds of birds flying in complete synchronisation. This got me to thinking about other bird phenomena, particularly geese and ducks that fly south for the winter. If you search the Internet for information on geese and ducks, you’ll find there a re a number of things written about them and why they do this. I think that we can learn a lot from the world around us if we only open ours eyes to them. The lessons for business and teams from these birds are:
These are some of the things that we can learn from geese. Geese provide us with a great example of unity of purpose, shared resolve and action — important team and leadership lessons. So, the next time you see geese flying above you, take a moment to remind yourself just how smart they are – and what we can learn from them.
