As a result of a May 2012 EU ruling every website site within Europe has to let visitors know how cookies are being used.
Like many sites that have analytics or social networking facilities enabled, this site does use cookies.
Here’s how this site uses them:
- For the social media sharing icons you see here and on every blog (Twitter etc.)
- To make it easier for regular commenters to leave new comments.
- To allow me to measure traffic to the blog.
- To allow my Hubspot links to work, so that when someone visits my landing pages from a link on this site, I know where the visitor came from.
If you are happy to proceed, you don’t need to do anything. Just carry on enjoying the blog as before. Nothing has changed here. By continuing to use this blog, you are offering what’s called ‘implied consent’. If for any reason you do not like cookies, you can change your browser settings, delete cookies or try and find an alternative, cookie free blog.
Here is some more information about cookies for those of you who want to know more. It includes some ideas on how to block and manage cookies.
Thanks to Jim Connolly for leading the way and allowing other blogs to ‘reuse’ his cookie policy.
Thanks to Chris Bartow for the front page image.
